Tom Arnold

Tom Arnold 1 Photo

As a writer, producer, and actor, Tom Arnold has established himself to both television and film audiences worldwide, having won such awards as the Peabody Award for writing, and a Golden Globe Award for writing and producing. Additionally, he helped put Fox Sports Network on the map with his hosting duties on “BEST DAMN SPORTS SHOW PERIOD.”

Arnold cornered the market on playing the resident comic relief in films like “NINE MONTHS” with Hugh Grant, Julianne Moore, and Robin Williams, James Cameron’s “TRUE LIES” with Arnold Schwarzenegger, “HERO” with Dustin Hoffman, and “AUSTIN POWERS: INTERNATIONAL MAN OF MYSTERY” with Mike Myers.

Arnold has successfully broken out of the comedic stereotype and is ironically becoming a fixture at film festivals by landing more mature and dramatic roles. He received critical praise for his role in “GARDENS OF THE NIGHT,” opposite John Malkovich, which premiered at the 2008 Berlin Film Festival, and won the International Critics Award at the 2008 Deauville Film Festival. He also appeared in three films at the 2008 Sundance Film Festival: “THE GREAT BUCK HOWARD” starring John Malkovich and Tom Hanks, “GOOD DICK” opposite Jason Ritter, and “THE YEAR OF GETTING TO KNOW US” opposite Sharon Stone, Jimmy Fallon and Lucy Liu. In 2005, he received critical notice for his role in Don Roos’ “HAPPY ENDINGS” for Lions Gate Films (which premiered at Sundance), starring opposite Maggie Gyllenhaal and Lisa Kudrow. He was also seen in “PRIDE” opposite Terrance Howard, and “ANIMAL FACTORY,” directed by Steve Buscemi, another role for which Tom received great reviews.

Arnold began his career in comedy at the University of Iowa before moving to Minneapolis, where he won the Minneapolis Comedy Competition in 1988. He then moved to Los Angeles to write on the highly successful television series, “ROSEANNE,” before eventually serving as executive producer for the sitcom. He went on to star in three installments of his own HBO special entitled “TOM ARNOLD: THE NAKED TRUTH,” and then wrote, produced and starred in three of his own television series “THE JACKIE THOMAS SHOW,” “TOM” and “THE TOM SHOW.”

Other film credits include “SOUL PLANE,” “CRADLE TO THE GRAVE,” and “EXIT WOUNDS.” Arnold also starred in “THE KID & I,” an action comedy he wrote for a 16-year-old family friend with cerebral palsy. The film was directed by Penelope Spheeris, with cameos by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jamie Lee Curtis, and Linda Hamilton.

Born in Iowa, Tom has established a writing scholarship and runs an acting workshop for students at the Indian Hills Community College in Iowa. Tom is heavily involved in many charities. The Race to Erase MS is one of Tom’s favorite charities. From his position on the entertainment committee, Tom not only helps plan but also emcees and contributes to the auction. For the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Tom mans a booth at the yearly carnival (a major fundraiser), engaging attendees while raising funds. Other charities that are close to his heart and to which he has made significant contributions are Best Buddies, a charity started by Anthony Shriver that pairs mentally challenged people with college kids and jobs, Camp del Corazon, a camp for children with heart disease, The Kayne Eras Center, Promises Foundation, Carousel of Hope, Arnold's Inner City Games, The Hollenbeck Christmas Giveaway, and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

Arnold currently resides in Los Angeles.

OTHER GREAT SHOWS!

  • Scott Long
May 01, 2015 at 7:30 PM Scott Long

Welcome to a Real Reality Show. Scott Long tells his story of growing up in the Cornstalk Ghetto of Iowa and how an extremely dysfunctional childhood put him on the path to 1 of 2 careers; standup comedy or serial killing. Fortunately for all of us, cracking wise has worked well for him!

No two Scott Long performances are ever the same, as depending on the audience he can bring a PG to R-rated show. His latest show is called Good Dad…Not a Great Dad and it’s a hilariously edgy, but sometimes poignant exploration of having twins at 40 years old. The CD of this show has gotten great reviews, which includes what the comedy website Under the Gun said… “I’ve listened to and reviewed 52 comedy albums in 2013, but Scott Long’s is probably the one that touched me the most.

Scott has been seen on NBC, FOX, ESPN, and the Bob and Tom Show.  For the past 11 years he’s written the comedy sketches for the NFL on FOX pregame show. Scott has also written a book of comedic essays entitled Dysfunctional Thoughts of a 21st Century Man, plus released 2 comedy CD’s and 2 comedy DVD’s.  His standup comedy blog, Fly Over Comedy (scottcomedy.com) gets 1000′s of hit each week.

  • Pauly Shore
May 03, 2015 at 7:00 PM Pauly Shore

Stand-up comic, actor, writer, director Pauly Shore tasted super-stardom in 1990 when his precedent-setting MTV show "Totally Pauly" hit the airwaves to major fan approval. The show ran for six years, leading him to television and film roles. In 1993, he wrote and starred in a one-hour HBO television special, Pauly Does Dallas, which drew in even more loyal fans.

He had roles in films from 1988, providing supporting comedy relief, but it was the wildly popular Encino Man (1992), partnered with Sean Astin and Brendan Fraser, that put Pauly on the map. Films followed, including Son in Law (1993), In the Army Now (1994), Jury Duty (1995), Bio-Dome (1996) and The Curse of Inferno (1997). He provided voices in animated features such as Casper: A Spirited Beginning (1997) and The Goofy Movie Franchise (1995/2000).

His first album, "The Future of America," was named Best Comedy Album by the college music journalists in 1991, while the National Association of Record Merchandisers nominated his second album, "Scraps from the Future," for a Best Sellers Award.

Pauly has made several appearances in recent years as a recurring guest on Howard Stern's late-night show, as well as David Letterman's talk show. He tours the country with his stand-up comedy act.

In 2003, Shore produced, wrote, directed and starred in Pauly Shore Is Dead, a semi-autobiographical mockumentary, and in 2005 starred in the reality television series Minding the Store. His production company, Landing Patch Productions, has produced multiple films and specials: Natural Born Komics (2007), Adopted (2009), Vegas Is My Oyster (2011), and Pauly~tics (2012).

Currently, Pauly is working on Pauly Shore Stands Alone, a true-life road documentary that follows him as he performs in obscure towns throughout Wisconsin while dealing with his personal life back home. Pauly is also debuting a podcast series later this year: Pauly Shore’s Interested. In it, he interviews Arsenio Hall, Chris Rock, Whitney Cummings, Former RNC Chair Michael Steele, Dodger’s pitcher Brian Wilson, and many many more.

Well here we are...another awkward bio from a comedian.  I could loft the usual tidbits at you..."Here's who I've opened for"..."Here's where I started"..."I ALWAYS wanted to be a comedian".
The hope in revealing those kind of details is that it would add some legitimacy to my being, but no matter what I give you, you're not going to lose OR gain any sleep.  Here's what you want to know...am I funny?  Yes...I'm damn funny.  Am I Jerry Seinfeld funny?  I think so, at times, although I'll bet you he'd have a different answer.  I started doing stand up when I was 24.  I've never made the move to the "big city".  Would that have helped my career?  What do you think?  However, I chose to stay in Michigan so we could raise our daughters in an environment that would keep them from wanting breast implants for their birthday when they turned 8.  I'm not going to over-pump myself...I'm a good comedian with good material.  It's not for everybody (see Birmingham, AL), but it's for a lot of people.  I'm proud of what I do and I don't pine over the couple of people in the crowd who don't like me...I gave up on those a-holes years ago.  Understand something about life...not everyone is going to have twinkle in their eye when you walk in the room, so keep walking and don't waste your time on the non-twinklers.  Just get to one of my shows and judge for yourself.  I mean, look at the quality of this website...you know the tickets are cheap.

  • Dwight York
May 29, 2015 at 8:00 PM Dwight York

“I hope you like jokes” may seem an absurd way for a comedian to begin a show but those are the words that comedian Dwight York uses to introduce himself to his audience each night. Then the joke-slinging begins and never ends until York says “goodnight” a couple hundred perfect one-liners later.

During the first of many appearances on the nationally syndicated Bob and Tom Radio Show, York joked, “I was homeless for awhile. I didn’t want anyone to know so I slept in front of a Ticket Master.” It sent the morning crew howling with delight, became Tom Griswold’s “new favorite joke” and was featured on The Bob And Tom CD You Guys Rock. Since then York has been a regular guest on the show and was part of the 2005 Friends of Bob and Tom Show Concert Tour.

In August of 2009 York appeared on the main-stage at the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground for the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. York will be returning again this summer for his 4th year; headlining the Buffalo Chip Comedy Club with Dwight York and Friends.

York’s CD Quickies (Stand Up! Records; 2009) can be heard on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s Raw Dog Comedy Channel and was rated a “top ten comedy release of the year” by The Serious Comedy SitePunchline Magazine says that Dwight York, as inventive as he is suggestive, is what Steven Wright would be if Wright had Robert Schimmel’s blue streak, and that’s a  compliment to all three master comics.

  • Mick Foley
June 01, 2015 at 7:00 PM Mick Foley
One of the cornerstones of WWE’s meteoric rise in the late 90’s, Mick Foley earned the nickname ‘The Hardcore Legend’ for his ability to absorb seemingly inhuman punishment in some of the most dramatic matches in sports-entertainment history. Already a respected veteran for his 11 physically punishing years wrestling under the name Cactus Jack, Foley’s career soared to new heights in WWE as ‘Mankind’, a character Foley claimed was inspired by a combination of reading ‘Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein’ and listening tothe music of Tori Amos.

As Cactus Jack, Foley won the 1995 ‘King of the Deathmatch’ tournament in Yokohama, Japan, and continued wrestling, despite the amputation of his right ear, in a match against Vader in Munich, Germany in 1994. As Mankind, Foley was a 3-time WWE Champion, but is best known for his epic and brutal battle with The Undertaker in 1998’s ‘Hell in a Cell’ match, during which he was knocked unconscious after falls both off of and through the 16 foot Cell structure. Despite the injury, Foley finished the match – with one of his front teeth lodged in his nose.

With retirement looming as a result of that physically demanding style, Foley penned his own memoir, ‘Have a Nice Day’ without the aid of a ghost-writer – writing 200,000 words in longhand in 50 days. The book showcased Foley’s paradoxical blend of wit and wisdom, wildness and warmth, and shocked the literary world by hitting number one on The New York Times best-seller list in October, 1999. The book remained on the Times list for twenty six weeks. A follow-up, 2001’s ‘Foley is Good’ hit number one on The New York Times list as well. Foley has published a total of ten books; four memoirs, four children’s books and two novels.

After speaking at some of the United Stated most respected colleges and universities – including MIT, Syracuse University, Notre Dame and The University of Miami, Foley decided to take his verbal skills to the stand-up comedy stage in 2009. 2012 saw Foley earn rave reviews for his comedy sets at ‘Just for Laughs’ in Montreal, and the ‘Edinburgh (UK) Fringe Fest’ – the two largest comedy festivals in the world. He is currently represented by Innovative Artists.

Foley’s acting credentials include ’30 Rock’, ‘Warren the Ape’, Now and Again’, ‘G vs E’ and ‘Boy Meets World’ and he was featured in the critically acclaimed documentary ‘Beyond the Mat’ He has done voice work on ‘Squidbillies’ ‘Celebrity Death Match’ and ‘Avatar: the Last Airbender’ and was featured in a 2012 episode of ‘Celebrity Wife Swap’. His list of guest appearances include ‘The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, ‘The Late Show with Jay Leno’, ‘Late Night with Conan O’Brien’, ‘Who Wants to be a Millionaire’, ‘Good Morning America’, ‘Family Feud’ ‘Redeye’, ‘Larry King Live’ and several appearances on ‘Today’. He was featured in a 2010 story on ‘ABC’s World News Tonight’ for his work as an online volunteer with RAINN, the nation’s largest anti-sexual assault organization. Foley was also recognized for his work with RAINN at 2010’s ‘Rally to Restore Sanity and/or Fear’ – where he was awarded a Medal of Reasonableness’ from Jon Stewart.

Foley lives with his wife and four children on Long Island. His latest book, ‘A Most Mizerable Christmas’ will be published in October, 2012 by DK Books. The Foley’s have sponsored children with Child-Fund International for twenty years.
