Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents Tony Boswell
July 26 and 27
Shows at 7:30 PM

Tony Boswell entered the world a small, scared infant. Over the next two decades he put on some weight and grew taller. Then in 1986 he began performing stand-up comedy. Since then he has appeared in over 35 states and Canada with more than 3000 performances to his credit. He has been featured in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, The Seattle International Comedy Competition, The New Orleans' Comedy Festival, The Boston Comedy Festival and on Comedy Central, Comedy on the Road, KSHB's Kansas City Comedy Hour, Night Shift, and National Public Radio and in the films, The Babe and Meet the Parents.

So how did that waif with no verbal skills whatsoever become one of the premier comedians working today? What started in fun ended in, well… fun. Like an E! True Hollywood Story just before the half-hour commercial break, Tony had hit bottom. After dropping out of the University of Illinois, he had moved home with his mother. Not sure what to do with his life he began taking classes at The Player's Workshop of Second City in Chicago, an improv school whose alumni include such notables as Bill Murray, George Wendt and Shelly Long. Needless to say, he was hooked. Upon graduation from the Workshop he appeared in the sketch-comedy show Flame as well as The Adventures of Sinbad and Dreams of Gold and Pearls at the Children's Theatre of Second City.

Tony is a founding member of The Department of Works Comedy Ensemble whose other members included Andy Dick of News Radio and Comedy Central's Matt Walsh. With the "Department of Works" he produced and co-directed two successful shows, No Perversities Added and The Three Dollar Show. After a two year run, the individuals in the group split up to pursue their separate careers, Tony choosing stand-up comedy.

Tony currently travels the country as a stand-up comedian. He performs at comedy clubs as well as corporate shows nationwide. His show provides hilarious hi-jinks and onstage antics mixed with intelligent sarcasm. His good-natured approach towards the audience makes him a favorite nationwide.

OTHER GREAT SHOWS!

  • Tim Cavanagh
February 19, 2016 at 7:30 PM Tim Cavanagh
In 1997, Tim released his first CD, "Sounds Like Fun!" By then he had become a regular guest on "The Bob & Tom Show," a nationally syndicated radio show now heard in 150 markets. For two years, Tim did a weekly segment on the show called "The One Minute Song," which spawned two more CDs released on Tim's own label, Hits & Giggles Records. At a recent Hits & Giggles awards dinner, Tim was recognized by the label as their "Best Artist," an award he has won three out of the last four years. Even though he is the only act on the roster, a misty-eyed Cavanagh was quoted as saying, "It's still a big thrill."

As for television, Tim has not only appeared on Comedy Central, he was chosen by the network to do several live performances for their clients and customers. His national appearances on ABC-TV, Showtime, WGN, and Comcast have helped Tim deal with his biggest TV disappointment--calling QVC seconds too late to get a great deal on a colander set.

  • Drew Lynch
February 25, 2016 at 7:30 PM Drew Lynch
Drew Lynch is a comedian, actor, writer, and comma user. Other people might know him as “that guy that stutters.” Other people might know those other people as “his parents.”

A few years ago Drew moved out to LA to become an actor. Sometimes things don’t go according to plan i.e. you get hit in the throat with the occasional softball, and you have to adapt. And that’s just what he did! After finding comedy as an outlet, he began performing regularly. And irregularly.

Since then, he has been seen on the Dr. Oz show and most notably was runner-up on season 10 of America’s Got Talent (damn puppets).

March 18, 2016 at 7:30 PM Chris "BOOM BOOM" Johnson
Chris has been on Comedy Central and performs clubs and colleges all over the country. His unique way of looking at everyday situations in a comical sense has led Chris to translate some of the most unbelievable stories into hilarious comedy bits. Chris just likes to have fun in life and it shows when he is on stage, inviting the crowd to have fun with him, while he puts on one of the most energetic shows on the comedy circuit today.
