Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents James Johann
September 6 and 7
Show Time 7:30 PM
Comedian James Johann is now among one of the most popular acts touring the nation today. With a hometown charm and a deliciously quick wit, James has been a long-time staple of the Midwest comedy circuit. From Chicago to Houston, Erie to El Paso James' small town upbringing makes him a familiar favorite in the heartland of the country. However, James is just as comfortable playing the biggest stages and events up and down either coast and has made several appearances on national television and radio shows. James' "Rural Genius" persona is gaining popularity daily as more and more fans find that they can relate to his self-deprecating style of homespun horse sense.
James has delivered powerful performances alongside some of the top-grossing names in the comedy industry: Jeff Foxworthy, Larry The Cable Guy, Ron White, Lewis Black, Tracy Morgan and Kevin Nealon to name just a few. He is comfortable on any size stage and never leaves a crowd disappointed. James has been a national touring headliner in his own right for nearly ten years, during which time his writing and performance skills have only grown stronger. Don't be fooled by his boyish grin or Midwestern charm; James is no backwoods rube. James relies more on his brain than the profane and he just may be one of the nation's best kept secrets.
In July 2004 James performed in the New Faces of Comedy category at the Montreal Just for Laughs Comedy Festival. James was featured on Comedy Central's Premium Blend in 2005. Additional appearances include The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson in 2006 and CMT's Comedy Stage in 2008. James just completed taping Byron Allen's Comedy TV which will air later this year.

He adds in his quick wit and spot on impressions to make the show fun from beginning to end. His comedy background is a large part of this ability. He has toured and still tours with some of the big names in comedy. Working in some of the greatest theaters around the country has put him in front of thousands of people. He also keeps his shows family friendly due to the large amount of corporate events and Colleges he works with. When asked about if volunteers on his show should be worried about coming on stage his response was simply " I treat the volunteers on stage the way I would want my wife and daughters treated, with respect and dignity! " That is why Doug has become one of the most requested in the nation for corporate events, Colleges and High Schools. ESPN selected him to be a Bowl Game entertainer for teams at the Compass Bowl in Birmingham, AL. Finding a way to make people forget about the stresses of life and laugh through his 75 to 90 minute show is what DougT lives for......
“I hope you like jokes” may seem an absurd way for a comedian to begin a show but those are the words that comedian Dwight York uses to introduce himself to his audience each night. Then the joke-slinging begins and never ends until York says “goodnight” a couple hundred perfect one-liners later.
Dwight York performs at many of the nation’s top comedy clubs and every summer headlines the Buffalo Chip Comedy Club at the annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. He has appeared at the Great American Comedy Festival, the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and was a two-time finalist in the San Francisco International Comedy Contest. In October of 2014, he placed 2nd at the Laughlin Laugh Fest.
York has also been a favorite guest on the nationally syndicated The Bob and Tom Show and was featured on their CD, You Guys Rock. York’s CD Quickies (Stand Up! Records) can be heard on Sirius XM Satellite Radio’s Raw Dog Comedy Channel and was rated a “top ten comedy release of the year” by The Serious Comedy Site. Laffspin Magazine says that Dwight York, as inventive as he is suggestive, is what Steven Wright would be if Wright had Robert Schimmel’s blue streak, and that’s a compliment to all three master comics.
