Q.  Where are you located?

A  We are BACK downtown at The Vault (formally the Cedar Rapids Piano Lounge).  208 2nd Ave. S.E.  Cedar Rapids, IA  52401.  Our telephone number is still the same 319-362-8133.

 

Q.  How do I purchase tickets for the shows?

A.  Easiest way is to purchase them directly from our website.  You can print your ticket at home and bring it down night of the show.  Don't worry if you could not print them out, we have your reservation on file attached to your name.  You can also call 319-362-8133 to purchase tickets with credit card on the phone.  We do not hold tables, we run your credit card to reserve you a spot.  You can also stop down during business hours to buy tickets directly.  Seating is reserved so if you want to sit with another group that has purchased tickets you need to let us know.

Q. What are showtimes?

A.  Friday & Saturday show times are at 7:30. (Special circumstances do apply) Seating for the showroom starts at 6:00 and the sports bar and cocktail bar opens at 4:00.  Our Open Mic Night (2nd & 4th Wednesday of every month) starts at 8:30.  Weekday Special Event shows may vary.

 

Q.  How is seating based?

A.  Website tickets have best seats available, then credit card reservations, and then any walk ins. 

 

Q.  How long is the show?

A.  We try to tailor our shows to be a solid 1 1/2 hour of pure enjoyment.  Then following the show you can stay for free and enjoy Piano Lounge entertainment shortly after.  You get free admission to the piano entertainment when you purchase Penguins Comedy Club tickets.  (For shows on Thursday - Saturday only)

 

Q.  Can we still redeem Gift Certificates issued from the other Cedar Rapids Penguins locations.

A.  Yes, but ANY Clarion Hotel issued gift certificate needs to be redeemed before April 10th of 2011.  After that you will need to redeem or get a refund directly from the Clarion Hotel on 33rd Ave.  We apologize for any issues that may occure because of this but Penguins did its best to avoid any conflicts with this matter.

 

Q  How old must you be to enter your venue?

A.  Penguin's Comedy Club is  a 21 or old establishment.

    Known as Uncle Lar', Larry Reeb is the wise-cracking black sheep, politically incorrect relative everyone knows. Like any concerned relative Uncle Lar' wants to help. So in his own twisted way he does. He gives you "tips". Uncle Lar' offers tips on everything from marriage to lotteries to children. Always topping them off with, "That's a tip from your Uncle Lar'."
     
    Reeb is a strong, distinct, classic character, with sarcastic attitude and a sardonic wit. He conveys his concepts with rapid fire one liners. "It's a sick world and I'm a happy guy", Reeb proudly announces after stating his particularly twisted observations. Reeb didn't invent obscene phone calls or adultery, but he makes his living talking about them. In a perfect world Uncle Lar' would be unemployed.
     
    Where others cringe, Reeb thrives. His sharp wit was custom built to handle hecklers. During a performance a regretful drunk once shouted "talk about sex." Larry retorted, "your parents shouldn't have had it", and of course capped it with, "that another tip from your Uncle Lar'."
     
    Uncle Lar' is a regular on "The Bob & Tom Show", syndicated in over 100 markets. Larry has been voted Chicago Comedian of the Year, and has made numerous television and radio appearances.
     
    His tips are tops. his inflections infectious. And the fans are fanatics. Reeb's cult-like clan can't get enough. Whether he's headlining comedy clubs, colleges or conventions, his wit is universally appealing. Relatively speaking, everyone travels from everywhere to see their Uncle Lar'.

    In early 2010 Brad had the honor of becoming a favorite opening act for comedy legend Joan Rivers. Joan says Brad is "so talented and a joy to work with"(in case you missed that quote in big read letters in the upper right). Brad has also opened for The Temptations, Jon Lovitz, Keith Sweat, The O'Jays and 80's rockers Loverboy.
     
    Brad's comedy is a mix of his observations about life and his love/hate relationship with pop culture. Music is a big love of Brad's and a lot of his comedy comes from his frustrations with the state of popular music which should be relatable to anyone with ears.
