January 20, 2012 at 7:30 PM JR BrowFeature act is Mike Brody
JR Brow is a comedy composer who draws from his eclectic nineteen year collection of jokes, impressions, music, and characters to customize an experience that cannot be described with any one genre. Covering relationships, politics, religion, current events and pop culture, with topics ranging from Green Day to rednecks; JR expertly blends seemingly opposing subjects into a hilarious mix. Brow is one of a few comics to please audiences of every state; an accomplishment that speaks to his range and ability to connect with any crowd.
After seeing his act it is clear why JR has been honored in the comedy world as a finalist in San Francisco's prestigious International Comedy Competition and selected as a stand out in HBO's U.S. Comedy Arts Festival in Aspen. Brow is proud to have traveled to such faraway places as Baghdad, Kuwait, Dubai, Afghanistan, Gitmo, and Italy - performing shows for U.S. military troops in desperate need of entertainment. He has also shared the stage with comedians such as Bill Hicks, Ray Romano, Wanda Sykes, Kathleen Madigan, and has been requested to perform with legendary musical acts like The Monkees and Earth Wind & Fire, just to name a few. JR Brow stands out in the comedy game "like a grain of rice in a bowl of black beans."

January 27, 2012 at 7:30 PM April MacieFeature act is Josh Arnold
Do you remember the girl in your high school who had a horrible rumor spread
about her? It might have involved a football team, or a dog and some peanut
butter or maybe processed meat. Well, that girl in Easton, Pennsylvania was
April Macie. So, where did she turn for comfort? While some might turn to the
Lord, April turned to promiscuity. Promiscuity and then comedy. With her
irreverent brand of overtly sexual humor she attempts to break down troubling
double-standards and lend her voice to women everywhere. April would like to
add that she doesn't really know what irreverent means, but she's heard a lot of
other comics use it and thought it sounded kinda' cool.
April Macie travels the world collecting stories and experiences, which she then
translates into humorous, relatable tales in front of audiences worldwide. April
has been to over 23 countries, 12 of those performing stand-up comedy (not
fellatio) for the troops, was a finalist on NBC’s Last Comic Standing in 2006, has
appeared on E! Entertainment, Fuel TV, HSN, Sirius and XM Radio, Bob & Tom, Access Hollywood, and was labeled an "emerging talent to watch" by the Hollywood Reporter at theJust for Laughs Comedy Festival in 2005. April is a regular guest on the Howard Stern show, where in 2008 she was voted the “Funniest and Hottest” comedian in America. She is currently in the documentary, “I Am Comic” which premiered at the 2010 Slamdance Film Festival and is currently airing on Showtime and will also be apprearing on Showtime in the stand-up special "Vegas Is My Oyster" premiering August 5th. Currently, she spends most of her time traveling the United States as a headlining stand-up comedian.
April has slapped a boyfriend on the toilet for renting out their home for porn
shoots, stood on the North Korean border, entertained troops next to the
detainee camp in Guantanamo Bay, imported a young Englishman for the
summer, only to see him turned away at the border months later for overstaying
his visa. She has had numerous crappy jobs-including: a nanny, Hooter’s
waitress, clowns assistant, telemarketer – fired from all of them, occasionally
smokes weed out of an apple and goes to Chucky Cheese with her friends,
thinks double standards are ridiculous and hopes to change the world by
empowering women, “One dick joke at a time.” -

February 10, 2012 at 7:30 PM Heywood BanksHeywood Banks is simply one-of-a-kind, almost impossible to describe, with a style his very own. Equal parts genius and buffoon, this songwriter-comic-singer-poet-musician has become a cult hero and a pop icon, with a show that appeals to college students, stoners, businessmen, yuppies, rednecks, punks, kids or your grandmother.
Heywood intersperses his humorous observations of life with twisted, inventive, bizarre songs, sung and played in a variety of styles, from folk, to country to rock to pop, and way beyond.
You have to be pretty smart to get Heywood at his deepest level (he demands a high level of pop culture literacy), but you can also enjoy him just for his vocal style impersonations, expert musicianship and just plain silliness. But why trust our opinions? Click here and see for yourself.
Heywood has been featured in "Rolling Stone Magazine" and "People Magazine." He won First Place in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search Contest.
Heywood Banks has appeared on A&E's "Evening at the Improv," MTV's "1/2 Hour Comedy Hour," CNN's "Hollywood Minute," "Caroline's Comedy Hour," "Entertainment Tonight," "Showtime Comedy Club Network," "Dr. Demento Show," "12th Annual HBO Young Comedians Special with Paul Rodriguez" and is a frequent guest on the national Bob and Tom radio show.
Stuart Mitchell, the creator of Heywood Banks, tells us that his character was born on a mountaintop in Tennessee and lived for many many years in a log trailer. Heywood's biological parents, Hank and Heyena Banks were killed in a freak revolving restaurant accident back in the sixties - someone had hit the Puree Button by mistake...grisly! Eventually raised by mathematical parents, Heywood was working in a Kroger bagging groceries when he was hit in the head with a can of lunchmeat, giving him spamnesia. This caused him problems for years as he became afraid of the dark, but couldn't sleep with the light on. "Did that ever happen to you???"

February 17, 2012 at 7:30 PM Brad Wollack

A two-time graduate of the University of Southern California (M.B.A. ’09 / B.A. ’00), Wollack is an Emmy nominated television writer, producer and comedian.
Currently a writer – and regular roundtable guest – on E! Entertainment’s hit late night series, “Chelsea Lately”, Wollack has also appeared as a guest on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, as well as in a number of national commercials where he was seen happily pitching products for companies he’s even at odds with politically. He is also a regular co-host on “After Party Live” -- E!’s live post-award show coverage. Additionally, Wollack is also the Co-Executive Producer, co-creator, and a co-star of the E! comedy series “After Lately” – a semi-scripted show about the lives of “Chelsea Lately” staffers – and he’s co-thrilled about it.
As a stand-up comedian, Wollack tours nationally with the ‘Comedians of Chelsea Lately’ and opens for the likes of Chelsea Handler and Kevin Nealon. As a contributing author to the #1 New York Times Bestseller, ‘Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me’, Wollack has hit the road with Handler in 2011 as part of the 20+ city stand-up tour promoting the book’s release. In addition to theaters nationwide, he regularly plays comedy clubs across the U.S. including the Hollywood Improv, the Laugh Factory, the Punch Line in San Francisco and Sacramento, and at Caroline’s, The Comic Strip and Gotham Comedy Club in New York.
Wollack served as a sideline reporter on Comedy Central’s “Battlebots: Season 4” and used to have an alter-ego, Woody Wittman, the clueless host of “The Hollywoody Show” on Comedy.com. “Woody” appeared on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno”, hosted at HBO’s “The Comedy Festival” in Las Vegas and has amassed upwards of 3.5 million views as a regular feature on YouTube.
Wollack's passion for television began in high school. After only one semester of interning at San Francisco’s CBS affiliate, KPIX, the cocky 16 year-old figured he could make his own TV show. Hence, “Eye On The Bay”, a community-access (read: public-access) program that highlighted the people who make San Francisco. The program garnered local and international media attention – yet, no viewers.
At USC, Wollack helped launch Trojan Vision, the university’s student-run TV station. It was there he created his persona – “Big Red” – a comedic reporter who pestered the university’s athletes and administrative officials.
This led to a two-year stint on Fox Sports Net’s “USC Sports Magazine” program where he became the brunt of host Tom Kelly’s (raging alcoholic) jokes. That was until he backed his way into “Stop Making Sense” – a pilot for FOX – in the spring of 1999. Needless to say, the program was not picked up (that’s why you had never heard of him). However, he’s been able to procure development deals with companies such as the Emmy Award winning, Production Partners Inc. (“Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Chris Rock: Bring the Pain”). He has also developed series for Fox Television Studios, A. Smith & Co. – including “The King of Wall Street” for CNBC starring investment guru, Jim Cramer (“Mad Money”) – RJ Cutler, Warren Littlefield and the legendary, Norman Lear. Oh, and Brad’s a BLATANT name-dropper.
As a writer/producer, Wollack received a 2004 Emmy nomination for his work on the “Wayne Brady Show.” Additionally, he’s written and produced for: MTV’s “The New Tom Green Show”, and “Parental Control”; FOX’s “Jingle Ball Rock”; NBC’s “Radio Music Awards”; Style’s, “Foody Call”; the comedic “Frank’s Picks” segment for the NFL on FOX Pre-Game Show – for which he garnered his second Emmy nomination; and the 2005 E! Entertainment pilot, “That’s So Hollywood” – a parody of entertainment magazine shows – which could’ve been great, but wasn’t.
Over the past several years, Wollack served as the head writer and Supervising Producer for the Fox Sports Net’s comedy-sports talk show pilot, “Regular Joes”, and was a writer-producer for the popular E! comedy series, “The Chelsea Handler Show”, as well as the Simon Cowell/A. Smith & Co./FOX collaboration, “Celebrity Duets”.

February 18, 2012 at 7:30 PM Brad WollackABOUT BRAD

February 24, 2012 at 7:30 PM Sean MoreyAbout Sean
“I don’t take no crap from anybody… else but you!” sings comedian Sean Morey in his radio hit The Man Song. Each line starts out with a macho roar and ends with a henpecked whimper as in “I’m the man of this house… until you get home” or “I don’t want to hear a lot of whining… so I’ll shut up.” The Man Song became the most requested song on over one thousand radio morning shows all over the country and is a huge internet phenomenon. It also played regularly at wedding receptions.
Sean followed up The Man Song with dozens of other comedy songs, many of them relationship songs like The Woman Song and He Said, She Heard. He also writes songs about everything else including Dickin’ Around at Work, Repo Man is Coming to Town, I Think it’s Going to be a Great Day, The Toddler Song, It’s All About Me and The Man Who Doesn’t Exist. Sean’s songs Dear Santa and The A.D.D. Song just won first and third place in the comedy category of The International Songwriting Competition. The comedy category was judged by “Weird Al” Yankovic, Cheech Marin, and David Cross.
The radio world has embraced Sean’s top-notch stand up comedy as enthusiastically as his music. He routinely does five or more telephone interviews per day with radio stations.
Morey began his career in Boston where he graduated from Northeastern University with a degree in Speech Communications. He started as a street entertainer doing comedy magic and juggling on the Boston Common. He soon opened his own comedy school and performed a one-man show every Friday night at the Charles playhouse for nine months straight.
Upon moving to Los Angeles, Morey won first place in the Southern California Comedy Competition, which led to three appearances on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson. He was signed by the William Morris Agency, did opening act performances for dozens of major stars, and wrote and performed comedy for NBC’s The Big Show and The Crystal Gayle Special on CBS.
Since then he has been touring around the country and the world performing in comedy clubs, theaters, on cruise ships and on the college circuit. He was twice nominated College Comedian of the Year, and has been seen on many television shows including three times on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. -

March 02, 2012 at 7:30 PM Mike ArmstrongFeature act will be Mike Baldwin. If you will be sitiing with another party, you must call in and let us know you will be sitting together. 319-362-8133 or email at penguinscomedyclub@gmail.com

Raised by loving parents in the conservative mid-west in a small town near Louisville, Kentucky, Mike Armstrong enjoyed a fairly normal childhood. So, what went wrong?
He’s an ex-cop - the kind of cop that most people hope for when they get pulled over. “I’d stop cars and warn the speeding drivers about the speed traps up ahead.”
“I think that when I quit the police department three other cops lost their jobs. They simply didn’t need that many internal affairs officers anymore!” “I’ve been married so long, I don’t even look both ways when I cross the street.”
Mike and his wife have a small herd of children (five). The kids are clones of their father. They’ll say and do just about anything to get attention. When a teacher asked son Christopher “…is that a lucky rabbits foot?” He responded, “…it was the only thing left in the trap… pretty lucky huh?” When the teacher called Dad to complain about the youngster’s behavior, Mike offered his true feelings… “Shut up! I’m not married to you!”
