  • Uncle Lar
June 21, 2013 at 7:30 PM Uncle Lar
Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents Uncle Lar.
    June 21 and 22
    Show time 7:30 PM

Known as Uncle Lar', Larry Reeb is the wise-cracking black sheep, politically incorrect relative everyone knows. Like any concerned relative Uncle Lar' wants to help. So in his own twisted way he does. He gives you "tips". Uncle Lar' offers tips on everything from marriage to lotteries to children. Always topping them off with, "That's a tip from your Uncle Lar'."

Reeb is a strong, distinct, classic character, with sarcastic attitude and a sardonic wit. He conveys his concepts with rapid fire one liners. "It's a sick world and I'm a happy guy", Reeb proudly announces after stating his particularly twisted observations. Reeb didn't invent obscene phone calls or adultery, but he makes his living talking about them. In a perfect world Uncle Lar' would be unemployed.

Where others cringe, Reeb thrives. His sharp wit was custom built to handle hecklers. During a performance a regretful drunk once shouted "talk about sex." Larry retorted, "your parents shouldn't have had it", and of course capped it with, "that another tip from your Uncle Lar'."

Uncle Lar' is a regular on "The Bob & Tom Show", syndicated in over 100 markets. Larry has been voted Chicago Comedian of the Year, and has made numerous television and radio appearances.

His tips are tops. his inflections infectious. And the fans are fanatics. Reeb's cult-like clan can't get enough. Whether he's headlining comedy clubs, colleges or conventions, his wit is universally appealing. Relatively speaking, everyone travels from everywhere to see their Uncle Lar'.

Brad's comedy is a mix of his observations about life and his love/hate relationship with pop culture. Music is a big love of Brad's and a lot of his comedy comes from his frustrations with the state of popular music which should be relatable to anyone with ears.

  • Mark Sweeney
July 12, 2013 at 7:30 PM Mark Sweeney
Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents Mark Sweeney
    July 12 and 13
    Show times 7:30 PM

This Comedy Central veteran turns topics as intergender relationships and golf inside out with his sarcastic and witty brand of hilarity. A native of St. Louis, Mark mixes Midwest convictions with wise-guy attitude. Always a tad irreverent, Mark Sweeney has a way of making even the victims of notorious attention laugh about their shortcomings.

The four years he spent in the U.S. Marines were forgettable, either that or he just can't remember them. Though his military history is a bit fuzzy, he's constantly being reminded that at some point he attended college, which is why he's still on the run from the student loan collectors. Mark's credits also include acting roles in Boston Public, The Visitor, and Days of Our Lives. Mark is a long-time Penguins Comedy Club favorite and an acknowledged attraction at corporate events

  • Charlie Weiner
July 19, 2013 at 7:30 PM Charlie Weiner
Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents Charlie Weiner.
    July 19 and 20
    Shows start at 7:30 PM.

It turns out Charlie Wiener has a real job! Though he still plays a guitar and sings from time to time proving his roots to the sixites, he really is a stand up comedian.

Charlie Wiener has headlined comedy clubs across the United States and Canada for a quarter of a century. In that time he has appeared at Zanie's in Chicago, Nashville, St. Charles and Mount Vernon, Goodnight's in Raleigh, The Admiral Theater in Bremerton, Wa., The Improv, Catch a Rising Star in Reno, Providence, Princeton, NJ and Atlantic City, The Riviera and The Plaza in Las Vegas, Loonee's in Colorado Springs and Laff's in Tucson and Albequerque.

He has shared the stage with Ellen Degeneres, Bobcat Goldthwait, George Lopez, Gordon Lightfoot, Randy Newman, Todd Rundgren, Meatloaf, America, Jefferson Starship as well as many, many others. He has performed in forty-six states and half of Canada, driving almost two million miles and aging himself by a multiple of six. He is old, broke down and in pain which he bitches about most of the time but that's the way old people are!

The father of two adult daughters and three very odd dogs, he has lived a full life but isn't ready to cash in his chips just yet. His greatest joy is taking the stage and promoting the concept of old people becoming a drag on the younger generation. Power to the old people! is his battle cry and the the audience follows. Well, they're in wheel chairs, walkers and leaning on canes, don't move very fast and need to stop to pee every few miles... but they follow. And the young see him as hope for their future. That maybe someday ifthey waste their lives they, too, will get to be bitter old people as well. And that life doesn't necessarily end at 25. Some people are still doing 'it' into their forties and even fifties. (Yes, I know, it's disgusting to even think about that but it's true, I swear to God, they are!)

With appearances on A&E, Comedy Central, his own cable shows 'Off The Wall' and 'Wienervision', CBC, NBC, ABC and CBS as well as being heard regularly on XM radio he has brought the concept of having fun while piling on the years to an art form. Audiences consider him one of the best they have heard... well, those that can still hear. Some have need of a lip reader.

Charlie finds there is nothing funnier than everyday life - especially his. His subject matter ranges from travel to politics, road rage to stupid people, fatherhood to marriage, marriage to marriage to relationships back to marriage around the corner to sex (and lack thereof), then cutting through the alley of dealing with customer service into the bright white light of homosexual relationships onto the highway of love. Yes, it's high energy, fast paced and extremely hilarious. Those who have witnessed a Wiener show vow they will be back if they are still among the living.

For more than forty years in music and comedy, Charlie has proven himself to be the consumate entertainer and one of the most requested stand-up comedians working the road. Charlie Wiener stand-up comedy with that old, old world edge. If wisdom comes with age does it not seem logical that cranky is right on its heel???

  • Tony Boswell
July 26, 2013 at 7:30 PM Tony Boswell
Penguins Comedy Club located inside The Vault presents Tony Boswell
    July 26 and 27
    Shows at 7:30 PM

Tony Boswell entered the world a small, scared infant. Over the next two decades he put on some weight and grew taller. Then in 1986 he began performing stand-up comedy. Since then he has appeared in over 35 states and Canada with more than 3000 performances to his credit. He has been featured in the San Francisco International Comedy Competition, The Seattle International Comedy Competition, The New Orleans' Comedy Festival, The Boston Comedy Festival and on Comedy Central, Comedy on the Road, KSHB's Kansas City Comedy Hour, Night Shift, and National Public Radio and in the films, The Babe and Meet the Parents.

So how did that waif with no verbal skills whatsoever become one of the premier comedians working today? What started in fun ended in, well… fun. Like an E! True Hollywood Story just before the half-hour commercial break, Tony had hit bottom. After dropping out of the University of Illinois, he had moved home with his mother. Not sure what to do with his life he began taking classes at The Player's Workshop of Second City in Chicago, an improv school whose alumni include such notables as Bill Murray, George Wendt and Shelly Long. Needless to say, he was hooked. Upon graduation from the Workshop he appeared in the sketch-comedy show Flame as well as The Adventures of Sinbad and Dreams of Gold and Pearls at the Children's Theatre of Second City.

Tony is a founding member of The Department of Works Comedy Ensemble whose other members included Andy Dick of News Radio and Comedy Central's Matt Walsh. With the "Department of Works" he produced and co-directed two successful shows, No Perversities Added and The Three Dollar Show. After a two year run, the individuals in the group split up to pursue their separate careers, Tony choosing stand-up comedy.

Tony currently travels the country as a stand-up comedian. He performs at comedy clubs as well as corporate shows nationwide. His show provides hilarious hi-jinks and onstage antics mixed with intelligent sarcasm. His good-natured approach towards the audience makes him a favorite nationwide.
